Hand tools can be as dangerous as power tools. 

Injuries can include cuts, abrasions, amputations and punctures from using the tool or flying objects.

Here are some tips to keep yourself safe while using hand tools
  1. Use the right tool for the job (i.e don’t use a screwdriver as a prybar)
  2. Don’t use broken or damaged tools
  3. Cut away from your body
  4. Make sure that you have a secure grip on the tool
  5. Select tools that are designed to reduce stress on your body
  6. Don’t carry sharp tools like screwdrivers in your pocket
  7. Wear your PPE while working with any tool
  8. When working at height, secure all tools so they do not fall on a coworker
  9. Be aware of pinch points on any tool you are using
