7 Grading Overview

First and foremost, it is the student’s responsibility to hold themselves accountable for their own success. Each student shall monitor their progress, grades, and be a motivated learner. The instructor is responsible for providing an effective and quality course that is conducive to learning. This course has five (5) grading categories which are listed and described below:

Category Descriptions

 

Participation and Attendance: 10%

All students are expected to be active participants in class. Students are expected to come to class prepared and ready to discuss the topics for the week, which means completing the assignments for the week before the start of class. Students are expected to log into Moodle on a regular basis, at a minimum of twice per week.

Homework: 20%

Assignments are posted in Moodle, the learning management system. Homework collaboration is encouraged, providing work turned in is unique and not simply duplicating or paraphrasing a classmate’s response. Late work will not be accepted.

Quizzes: 15%

Quizzes will be cumulative, meaning that they may contain any information covered in the class. No makeup quizzes will be allowed.

Tests: 30%

Tests will be cumulative, meaning that they may contain any information covered in the class. No makeup tests will be allowed.

Final: 25%

A final will be given during finals week. The final will be closed book, closed notes and it will be cumulative. The final exam is scheduled for Monday, April 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

 

Note card Policy:

Students may use a hand-written 3-inch by 5-inch note card for formulas and conversion factors on all assessments. Note card may not contain examples, definitions, symbols, or pictures.

Late Work

The expectation is that each student will be a motivated learner who completes their assignments in a timely manner. No late work will be accepted.
